Premier League duo Man United and Newcastle United are interested in securing the services of Inter Milan attacker Hakan Calhanoglu. The 28-year-old attacker moved to the blue and black half of Milan in the summer of 2021. Hakan played a crucial role in Inter’s Coppa Italia win and has turned up with important goals in several matches.
Calhanoglu was the hero earlier this month when Inter Milan defeated Barcelona 1-0 at the Giuseppe Meazza. Turkey international has proven to be an invaluable footballer for Simone Inzaghi and has seen his stock rise. It comes as no surprise that Man United and Newcastle United are making admiring glances towards him.
The Nerazzurri’s monetary difficulties are well documented, and it could prove difficult for them to turn down offers, especially if it makes financial sense. A playmaker in his prime, a price of nearly €25m-€28m is fair for someone of the Turkish attacker’s abilities.
Calhanoglu would fit in well at Theatre of Dreams where Erik ten Hag is looking to rebuild a fallen giant. The arrival of Eriksen has given Man United a much-needed playmaking presence in midfield, but the Danish playmaker is not a long-term solution.
Hakan will not just offer an alternative but can also serve in the role for the next few years. Add to it his ability on the dead ball, and the Dutch manager would be landing himself a match-winner.
