Manchester United returned to winning ways with an impressive 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night.
The Red Devils bounced back from their weekend stalemate against Newcastle United and moved to within four points of Spurs thanks to goals from Fred and Bruno Fernandes, while still having a game in hand over Antonio Conte’s men. The result means that United have lost just one Premier League match since mid-August.
As such, optimism is high surrounding Erik ten Hag’s side, and the Dutch manager will be eager to capitalise on a positive run of form by strengthening his squad as and when it is possible to do so. With that in mind, here are some of the latest United-related transfer stories …
United want Abraham
Tammy Abraham has emerged as a new target for United, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.
The former Chelsea striker left Stamford Bridge last year, and has since gone on to establish himself as one of the most impressive scorers in Serie A with Jose Mourinho’s Roma. The 25-year-old has hit 29 goals in 66 matches across all competitions since arriving in the Italian capital.
United are understood to be in the market for a new centre-forward amid persistent rumours linking Cristiano Ronaldo with a move away from the club, whether it be in January or at the end of the season. Fichajes claim that the Red Devils are considering a number of options, including Ivan Toney, Brian Brobbey, Lautaro Martínez, Harry Kane, Amine Gouiri, and now Abraham. It is suggested that Roma’s asking price for the player would start at £43.6 million – although Mourinho is reluctant to lose such a key talent.
